Clean-up of the Timeshare Available/Wanted/Swap sections

Postby dmwalker » Mon Dec 24, 2007 9:28 am

These three sections are full of old ads that are no longer applicable. It'd be nice if they could be cleaned up -- old ads deleted, etc.

I would encourage everyone on this board to go through and find their old ads and delete them if they are no longer wanted/needed. The easiest way to find your own ads is to click on one of the categories, (e.g., Timeshares Available) and then go to the bottom of the screen and then sort the posts by Author. Then find your name, and delete those posts that aren't applicable anymore.

Or, perhaps the webmaster could go thru and delete old ads?

This would make it so much easier for people to find current info without having to wade through all of the old stuff.

Just a thought...

You're reading my mind. I've sent eMail to folks who have posts dated prior to 2006 suggesting that they create a new post with updated information since I will be deleting those old posts at year end. Your message is prompting me to do so now, rather than in a few days.

I have been hesistant to delete old posts, since they may still be valid; for example, a unit for sale in 2006 may still be for sale now. Your suggestion about folks deleting old posts is excelent. I would only add that if the post is still valid, that they create a new one to replace it.

Thanks for your continued participation in this forum.

I think you should delete them regardless of whether or not the unit sold if the ad was created a long time ago. If they're still for sale, owners might as well create a new ad so that it moves to the top of the thread. Otherwise, the ad will languish down at the bottom of the thread and people probably won't even (and probably haven't in a long time) see them.

Maybe someday you can split the Available folders into two: For Sale and For Rent. Might make wading thru and maintaining those ads much easier since the For Rent ones will have an obvious 'end date'. For sale ones won't be cluttered up with short-term rental ads so buyers will have an easier time finding what they're looking for. Just a thought in case you have copious free time on your hands, LOL. ;)

BTW - thanks for creating and maintaining this website. It's much appreciated.
